The Game Yard ("we", "us") operates thegame-yard.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you send an enquiry through the site, the form opens your own email application with the details you entered (name, phone, email, party size, occasion, date and duration). Nothing is stored on this website; the message is sent from your email account to info@thegame-yard.com and kept in our mailbox so we can respond and, if you book, run your event.
Bookings and gift cards
Lane bookings, gift cards and payments are handled by Off The Couch, our booking provider, on pages at offthecouch.io that are embedded in this site. When you book, Off The Couch collects the details needed to complete and confirm your reservation, including your name, contact details and payment information, under its own privacy policy. We receive the booking details (not your full payment details) so we can host you.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time) for security and to keep the site running. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, and whether a visit leads to a booking. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes usage data under Google's privacy policy; IP addresses are not stored in the reports we see.
Campaign tags
If you arrive from a link that includes campaign tags (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content), we store those tags in a cookie for 30 days so we can tell which promotion led to a booking. The cookie contains only the tag values, not personal information.
How we use information

- To keep the site secure and comply with law.
Cookies and your consent
When you first visit, a notice asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Until you accept, Google Analytics runs in consent mode with cookie storage switched off, so no analytics cookie is set and no identifier is stored on your device. Your choice is remembered for 12 months and you can change it at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. Campaign-tag cookies and the embedded booking pages work regardless of your choice, because they are needed for the site to function. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run parts of the site for us: Off The Couch (bookings, gift cards and payments), Google (analytics, fonts and the embedded map), YouTube (embedded video), and our hosting provider. Each processes data under its own terms. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our guests and staff.
Third-party embeds
The embedded Google Map and YouTube video load only when you choose to show them or press play. When they load, Google may set its own cookies and collect usage data under Google's privacy policy.
Retention
Enquiry emails are kept for as long as needed to respond and run the event, then for our business records. Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Campaign cookies expire after 30 days.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or ask us to stop contacting you, by emailing info@thegame-yard.com. Illinois residents and residents of other states with privacy laws have the rights those laws provide, and we will honor them. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Guests aged 12 to 17 visit with a parent or guardian, who makes the booking.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Payment details are entered only on Off The Couch's secure booking pages and never touch this website.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page with a new effective date.
