Built in our own backyard
The Game Yard started with seven family members who saw that Highland did not have a great spot to play and have fun with friends, family, coworkers, and strangers. We opened in 2022.
The idea came from our own back yards: a place to hang out that offered something to do, with an atmosphere where fun, camaraderie, and back yard games could be enjoyed by everyone. Phase one was axe throwing, and not the normal painted-target kind. Our targets are projected onto the wall, with 14 games to choose from, on a softer end-grain wood system that makes the game more enjoyable for everyone.
The rear building came next, and it is now full of the games that give the place its name: a golf simulator, an iRacing simulator, carpetball, shuffleboard, giant Jenga, Stumped, Ringo, yard soccer, and more. One cover gets you an hour of throwing and then all of it, for as long as you like.
We are proud to be a local business, and the town has been super supportive ever since we opened.

We chose The Game Yard for our combined bachelor/bachelorette party and they did not disappoint! So easy to work with, explained how to use the axe throwing gaming system and everyone who came had a blast! The ability to choose games to play with the axe throwing made the night so much fun and the 2 hours go by way too fast! We already want to go back again!

This place is so fun! The owner was very nice and explained everything very well for axe throwing. This was our first axe throwing experience and it was fun. There are multiple games you can play for axe throwing, our group liked the bowling. There are also lots of activities and games in the other room such as shuffleboard, rock em sock em robots, giant tic tac toe, etc. You can be easily entertained for hours. I definitely recommend this place for a good time at a reasonable price.
